Early clinical studies on electromagnetic fields were being conducted in Russia and Japan beginning in the 1960’s. The beneficial effects of time-varying low energy magnetic fields were documented in North America beginning in 1973 and have since been increasing in frequency.
Dr. Andrew Bassett from Columbia University School of Medicine where he headed the college’s Orthopedic Research Laboratories for over 30 years, published a series of articles on the positive effects of pulsating electromagnetic fields for non-healing bone fracture in 3 well known North American medical journals. In 1978, after 20 years of investigation and a five-year study of outpatients, he reported that electromagnetic waves could be used to heal fractured limbs. His discovery that cell functions within the organism could be controlled by external electromagnetic fields led him to develop devices that helped many thousands of his patients.
In the decades following there has been an explosion in scientific research pertaining to pulsating electromagnetic fields. Today there are many thousands of research articles in scientific journals worldwide. ElectroMagnetic Field Therapy is considered safe and effective for a wide variety of health conditions.
Research Studies Conducted include:
* Pulsed electromagnetic fields in knee osteoarthritis: a double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial.
© The Author 2015. Published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the British Society for Rheumatology.
Sixty-six patients were included, and 60 completed the study. After 1 month, PEMF induced a significant reduction in VAS pain and WOMAC scores compared with placebo. Additionally, pain tolerance, as expressed by PPT changes, and physical health improved in PEMF-treated patients. Twenty-six per cent of patients in the PEMF group stopped NSAID/analgesic therapy. No adverse events were detected.
These results suggest that PEMF therapy is effective for pain management in knee OA patients and also affects pain threshold and physical functioning.

* Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy for management of osteoarthritis-related pain, stiffness and physical function: clinical experience in the elderly.
Department of Physiology, University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY, USA ; Poliambulatorio del Secondo Parere, Modena, Italy;
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
A total of 33 patients were screened, and 28 patients, aged between 60 and 83 and affected by bilateral knee osteoarthritis, were enrolled in this study. They received PEMF therapy on the right leg for a total of three 30-minute sessions per week for a period of 6 weeks, while the left leg did not receive any treatment and served as control.
The present study shows that PEMF therapy improves pain, stiffness and physical function in elderly patients affected by knee osteoarthritis.

* Low frequency and low intensity pulsed electromagnetic field exerts its antiinflammatory effect through restoration of plasma membrane calcium ATPase activity.
Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Madras Veterinary College, Vepery, Chennai, India.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting 1% of the population worldwide. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) has a number of well-documented physiological effects on cells and tissues including anti-inflammatory effect. This study aims to explore the antiinflammatory effect of PEMF and its possible mechanism of action in amelioration (making it better) of adjuvant induced arthritis (AIA).
The results of this study indicated that PEMF could be developed as a potential therapy for RA in human beings.

* The effect of pulsed electromagnetic fields in the treatment of cervical osteoarthritis: a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial.
Ankara Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Education and Research Hospital, Turk ocagi S No: 3 Sihhiye, Ankara, Turkey.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) on pain, range of motion (ROM) and functional status in patients with cervical osteoarthritis (COA). Thirty-four patients with COA were included in a randomized, double-blind study. PEMF was administrated to the whole body using a mat 1.8 x 0.6 m in size. During the treatment, the patients lay on the mat for 30 min per session, twice a day for 3 weeks. Pain levels in the PEMF group decreased significantly after therapy (p<0.001), but no change was observed in the placebo group. The active ROM, paravertebral muscle spasm and neck pain and disability scale (NPDS) scores improved significantly after PEMF therapy (p<0.001) but no change was observed in the sham group. The results of this study are promising, in that PEMF treatment may offer a potential therapeutic adjunct to current COA therapies in the future.

* 2003 NASA Study (NASA/TP-2003-212054 )
NASA has had great interest in the Schumann Resonances following the first Space Missions with Astronauts. How much of an impact did a differing electromagnetic field outside of the influence of the Schumann Resonance have on the health and well being of their Astronauts? NASA studied the effects of weightlessness on Astronauts but what was the effect of PEMF pulsed electromagnetic fields?
Their EMF research & studies outlined in the technical paper presented by Thomas J. Goodwin, Ph.D. of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center NASA/TP-2003-212054 Study entitled – Physiological And Molecular Genetic Effects Of Time-Varying Electromagnetic Fields On Human Neuron Cells, he noted that:
“We found the low-amplitude (within the biological window), rapidly time-varying magnetic fields (Pulsed and changing) exerted a very potent effect on the proliferation, morphology, and gene expression of the cells in culture”.
The studies findings indicated that cells grow faster and stronger and live longer when exposed to low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields.
NASA also applied for a patent on a pulsed electromagnetic field device based on their research of:
*Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields—A Countermeasure for Bone Loss and Muscle Atrophy.
This paper presented by researchers at the Johnson Space Center noted that:
“The purpose of these studies is to develop a pulsed electromagnetic field device for use as a noninvasive countermeasure to enhance bone retention, prevent or alleviate muscle atrophy, and augment natural healing/regeneration processes. This research represents a major contribution toward enabling humans to live and work safely in space, and is especially relevant to projected human space exploration. On Earth, this device could be useful in the treatment of various muscle diseases, age- and cancer-related muscle atrophy, osteoporosis, and other bone diseases.”
Thousands of Research Studies have shown the effectiveness of PEMF at the proper “Biologically Enhancing” levels to help reduce aches & pains & increase circulation.
Whether you are looking to:
- optimize exercise performance in pre-workout,
- post workout or injury management and recovery,
- to increase productivity & wellness through improved mental focus and stress management or to
- increase mobility, decrease aches and pains and increase circulation
Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field Systems can support all these through optimizing cellular function.
Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field (PEMF) devices for home use have been on the market for more than two decades. Swiss Bionic Solutions, the only company in the world with its own in-house research, engineering, development, and manufacturing divisions, is the world leader in PEMF systems for home use.
Over 60% of all PEMF systems sold in the world are manufactured & marketed by Swiss Bionic Solutions.
intelligent Magnetic Resonance System
iMORE – interactive MOnitoring & REgulation System (BioFeedback System)
“Listens” to the user’s body and adjusts the intensity according to their Heart Rate Variability
iSLRS – An integrated Sound & Light Relaxation System
Can best be described as a “spa for your brain.” It works together with the iMRS to melt away stress, improve oxygen circulation to your brain, deepen your ability to enjoy relaxing, restorative sleep, and naturally improve emotional balance without drugs or side effects. Researchers have found that not only are brainwaves representative of mental state, but they can be stimulated to change a person‘s mental state, and this in turn can help with a variety of mental issues.
Is built on database from over 20 years of clinical use. With over 2,000 pre-programed setting guidelines for best use and practice of the full body mat, pad and probe applicators this allows users and Certified Health Consultants to see at a glance setting guidelines for over 250 health concerns.
How would you compare PEMF Systems and their effectiveness?
Look at the Waveform, Intensity, Frequency and device safety, registration and regulatory compliance
“The iMRS full body mat uses a “Triple Sawtooth” waveform, one of the most difficult to produce but also one of the most powerful along with the “Square” waveform of the iMRS pad and probe.”
The greatest impact will occur with the greatest rise and fall – much like the force at the bottom of a waterfall. “The iMRS full body mat uses a “Triple Sawtooth” waveform, one of the most difficult to produce but also one of the most powerful along with the “Square” waveform of the iMRS pad.”
The result of using these formations is a greater biological effect in the cell membrane, inside the cells and in the tissues of the body!
The “Loudness” or Field Strength or Intensity
The description of the current flow and direction. It is determined by the magnetic coil length and the number of turns or “windings” of the coil combined with the strength of the electrical current applied to the coil. The tighter or more windings the coil has the greater the intensity.
“The iMRS full body mat has 3 pairs of tightly wound pure non-insulated copper coils for more effective penetration and treatment (unlike wire mesh used by some PEMF Systems). The pad applicator contains 2 pairs.”
“The iMRS is also designed to reverse polarity every 2 minutes with varied waveform to prevent the body from acclimatising. The entire body receives maximum benefit throughout each session.”
Research shows a “biological window” or a maximum benefit to the body at specific Gauss or Tesla levels. High intensity levels can actually “knock” the ions out of cells causing damage. The clinically used MRI (imaging system) uses field strengths 10,000 to 1,000,000 times stronger than the iMRS uses.
The “language spoken” or frequency. Do you want a language that wakes you up or calms you down to sleep? The optimal range for cellular health appears to be in the range of the Schumann resonances of the earth (7.83 Hz) similar to the alpha brain wave frequencies of 7-12 Hz (hertz). (see EMF History) Just like sound frequencies these can be too soft to be heard, too loud and causing damage or optimal for cellular health.
The iMRS has an additional Biorhythm time clock setting built in to the system that can also be programmed to correspond to the individual user’s own circadian rhythms such as someone working shift work. For example a user could program the morning setting to be used before their midnight shift begins.
Device Safety, Registration and Regulatory Compliance
In the USA the iMRS-series is registered and regulated with the FDA. In Canada the iMRS is a class II approved medical device. In Europe the iMRS-systems are certified as Class IIa-medical devices within the directive EEC 93/42. Furthermore all systems have a basic CE-Certificate as well as a more advanced CB-Certificate, which guarantees electronic safety and electromagnetic compatibility in the majority of countries including USA, Canada and Australia.
